It is pretty obvious that around the world, a ‘shaking’ is taking place. Natural disasters, wars, terrorist atrocities, famines, economic and political upheaval, even strange things being seen in the skies headline but a few of the events that daily bombard us.
Great Britain is certainly not exempt and the breathtaking speed of economic and political events in the last few weeks has left many stunned, in shock and in fear.
Even those who are Christians have been caught up in this whirlwind and I have personally been sad to hear fellow believers, particularly on social media, expressing bad feelings towards those with opposing views and even sentiments of impending doom!
What does the Bible say about this shaking? Hebrews 12:25-27 (referencing the Old Testament prophet Haggai (Chapter 2, verse 6) says:
See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven? At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, ‘Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens. The words ‘once more’ indicate the removing of what can be shaken – that is, created things – so that what cannot be shaken may remain.
In the last few weeks, I have not only personally been led to these passages, but heard a number of other Christian leaders around the Nation also talking about them and the ‘shaking’ which is upon us. They are talking about this is a most positive way, that as it continues to take place, our God, who is totally unshakable, will be more and more be revealed, and that countless people will be drawn to Him.
I also believe it is God’s mission at this time to shake His Church, and that this has commenced. We know that not everyone who attends a church has a personal living faith in Jesus, and even many who have, often think and act as if they have not!
Our Churches need to be filled with people brimming full of the Word and Holy Spirit. We must also come together in even greater unity and love, with constant prayer as the anchor to all we do. (I may have said that a a few times before!). God is and will continue to challenge and shake to the core ‘the Bride of Christ’, the true members of His Church.
As dust continues to rise and then settle over Great Britain, as those who do not know or have a wrong perspective of God find they have little or nothing left to hold on to, the Spirit will I believe increasingly move in ways we could never imagine. Believers will find unprecedented opportunities to join in with what is surely God’s end-time plan to bring Salvation and Revival across the length and breadth our Land!
Romans 13:11 says:
And do this, [obey the governing authorities and putting love for each other first] understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.
We have exciting times ahead for us here in Chelmsford. It really is time to wake up, dust yourself down and get ready.
Bless you all
David
