Event Background

Transforming Essex logoEssex is often portrayed with a negative reputation; Essex girls and white van man!

From a vision in 2018 by a group of eight church leaders in the south of Essex, Transforming Essex is a growing family of believers pursuing God’s heart to transform Essex in all sections of society.

During 2019, Transforming Essex launched the concept of Roundtables. These are groups of like minded individuals who will join together to seek God, discuss, strategise, celebrate, communicate and act on the things God calls them to collectively, all with the aim of seeing the County thrive and see it walk in its heavenly identity.

One of these emerging groups is the Transforming Essex Intercessors Roundtable who, in partnership with Chelmsford’s City Prayer, have felt to issue this County-wide call to gather  – possibly the first time such a call has been given?

We invite you to become part the journey to see Essex transformed by the Kingdom of God.

Prayer for Our City – this Thursday – Read why you should not miss it!

Everyone is welcome to join us this Thursday, 7.45pm for 8pm, at the Church of The Holy Spirit, Forest Drive, Chelmsford, CM1 2TS, to pray over our City.

Since the beginning of the year, there have been some exciting developments… read below, why you shouldn’t miss this meeting!

Snip of Prayer Support meetings decal - no date

Leader of Chelmsford 24-7 Prayer, and Chair of Christians Together in Chelmsford, David Gilbey explains why you need to come along on Thursday and to invite others to pray:

‘At the beginning of January, I went at a national and regional leaders 24 hour Prayer Retreat organised by World Prayer Centre,  and I believe The Lord gave a clear message to all present about being prepared for ‘Suddenlies’!

Personally too, at the beginning of the Retreat I believe God brought to my thoughts that He was going to bring the ministries I lead in Chelmsford and another Nationally, (Call the Nation to Prayer), together in some way.

arrow in targetAt the end of the 24 hours away, I was prayed over by a lady who knew nothing of my thoughts, who spoke prophetically the same thing, that the ministries I am involved in would be consolidated – she said she saw in her mind a target with an arrow in the middle.

Then, just two days later, a ‘suddenly happened! I received a personal email, then two hours later, had a conversation with a member of The House of Lords, who I had never heard of before, which resulted in meeting him and others last Friday week in Meriden, West Midlands.  It was there, in September last year, Call the Nation to Prayer, held two prophetic gatherings, called ‘As One’  – you can read about them by clicking here.

I cannot say too much more here, but I believe The Lord is birthing something, that could have terrific significance for His Kingdom in our City.

Then – A Prophetic Word over Chelmsford last Saturday

2019-01-19 10.15.11-1

If one suddenly was not enough, on Saturday just gone there was a Prayer Breakfast at The Church of the Holy Spirit, Chelmsford, where the speaker was Jennifer Abigail Wallace, of  National Prayer Movement, Quiver.

At the end of the morning, she suddenly released a prophetic word over Chelmsford. She spoke fervently of revival coming to our City – of mass salvations and healing miracles!

Click here to view a video of the word as it was given by Jennifer.

Something is stirring! We need to get before The Lord in Prayer, to hear His voice further and for wisdom as to the next steps of faith to take.

Please do your best to come along on Thursday evening, where I will be able to say some more. Come and pray for, His KIngdom Come, His will be done, in Chelmsford, as it is in Heaven!’

Blessings

David Gilbey

Atheism is down as UK gets spiritual

Atheism is down as UK gets spiritual – says the headline of an article reporting on a recent survey, appearing in The Times newspaper on Friday 28th December 2018.

Pete Greig, founder and Team Leader of 24-7 Prayer internationally, has just published the following remarks about this article on his Instagram account. (Click here to view on Instagram).

‘Just to be clear what we’re seeing here:
– British atheism —> declining (-2-3% p.a. for 3 yrs)
– British church attendance —> growing
– British people who pray —> growing. .
Are these signs of revival in the UK? Not yet. Atheists (and some regular church-goers) are ‘merely’ becoming nominal believers in ‘a greater spiritual power’, not necessarily in Jesus Christ; they are attending church occasionally, but not regularly; they are turning to prayer, but only sporadically.

So, is this everything we are praying for? Nope! Lets not get over-excited. In the words of the meme, let’s just ‘Keep calm and carry on.’

But is it a start? Fuel for faith? Somewhat encouraging for those who’ve wept, worked and prayed for years, longing to read this kind of report in the mainstream press? You bet!

And could it be a wake-up call for politicians and the media? The beginning of an exciting new season for gospel adventuring? A hint and a whisper that the tide is finally, beginning to turn in this supposedly secular nation? Maybe!’

Praying for our Nation in Chelmsford last Sunday

2018-12-09 18.41.07Last Sunday, 9th December, there was a Day of Prayer for Government and Chelmsford 24-7 Prayer, in partnership with Christians Together in Chelmsford (CTiC), were delighted to make an opportunity for those locally to take part.

From 7pm to 10pm, at Cables House, next to Life Church, around 25 people for a number of different churches came along to what was a remarkable evening of open prayer, petition, declaration, prophetic insight and worship, which unfolded as The Holy Spirit led.

It was great to know we were just one group out of many across the country who were meeting that day. I think all of us who were there believed that we had ‘done real business’ with Heaven and our prayers for the Government of the UK were heard and acted upon.

Do keep praying for God’s will to be done and for His Kingdom to come upon our country and it’s leaders, particularly as the Brexit debate still rumbles on!

Pray without ceasing

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given and the government will be upon his shoulders

Lord forgive, hear and Act!  -Daniel 9:19

Deliver this nation from its destructions Lord. ‘And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers’… Mal. 4:6

Now all glory to God, who is able, through His MIGHTY POWER at work in us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask of think. Eph. 3:20 GOD WILL DO MORE

We lift You up with our praise. Build Your Throne O Lord over our Nation

ORDER! ORDER! Thou whose almighty word chaos and darkness heard – progressive order, starting with the basics

Why did you wait so long?

Nigel Bolitho Evangelism ConsultancyPrayer leads to mission!
The below article is from this months newsletter of Evangelism Consultancy which is run by local Chelmsford Christian Nigel Bolitho.
Nigel works with a number of local churches and beyond, to help them communicate Jesus in a realistic way for their context in the long term through speaking about evangelism, strengthening through training, developing strategies and supporting people involved.

Would your Church benefit from input regards spreading the gospel of Jesus in your community?
.

“Why did you wait so long…”

Vincent Donovan was a missionary who worked among the Masai people of Tanzania. In May 1966 he wrote to his Bishop about how after 100 years of missionary work building and running hospitals, schools and mission compounds (which by that very term sound more like defensive fortifications than a welcoming oasis) and attending some Masai ceremonies, there were no adult coverts to Christianity. A missionary colleague had told him that it would take another 100 years for the Masai to be ready to talk about God.

So Donovan proposed going out to where the tribes lived and just talking to them about God – and that’s what he did. He asked permission from the elders to speak to the community (not individuals), suggested a religious theme or thought, asked for their views and fed in his views as a Christian.

It was hard work but great work – Masai people believed in “the Man Jesus” for the first time.

The elder at the first tribe Donovan went to, after he had explained he had come to talk about God and Christianity said “If this is why you came here, why did you wait so long to tell us this?”

What can we still learn from Vincent Donovan?

IMPORTANT NEWS – Behold I am doing a new thing!

IMPORTANT NEWS
Behold I am doing a new thing!
Chelmsford 24-7 and Christians Together in Chelmsford
.

Isaiah 43: 18-19 are those well known verses about perceiving that The Lord is doing something new, and for a while now we have strongly sensed that God has new and greater things ahead for Chelmsford! Both our Steering Group and Prayer Support Team have been praying and listening out for God’s direction.

Over the last three or so years, Chelmsford 24-7 Prayer has formed strong relationships with many Churches and Christian organisations within the City, promoting what they are doing and not least has encouraged and catalysed much prayer over Chelmsford. We have also formed ever closer links with Christians Together in Chelmsford (CTiC).

It is interesting to note that when Chelmsford 24-7 started, there were two bodies representing the Christians in our City: Churches Together in Chelmsford and Chelmsford & District Evangelical Fellowship (CADEF). However, as The Lord seemed to very much be talking to us about unity between Believers, that didn’t seem to be an ideal situation.

Christians Together in Chelmsford

We found that CADEF was considering it’s future and within a short while, it ceased in its church representing function (*see footnote). Then, in 2016, Churches Together, renamed, as a statement of unity and intent, Christians Together in Chelmsford. Chelmsford 24-7 has worked closely with the new CTiC and has had able representation on their Committee, by Chelmsford 24-7 Steering Group member, Sue Gibson.

As the CTiC AGM in May 2018 approached, Chelmsford 24-7 leader, David Gilbey had already agreed to be put forward for a place on the CTiC Committee. Sue Gibson was to switch roles to represent her church, Skylark. Both CTiC Chair and Vice-Chair were stepping down to take on other roles and no natural replacements had come forward.

Love Chelmsford

Around this time, our Steering Team met and strongly felt that Chelmsford 24-7 Prayer should be working in even closer relationship with CTiC. We believed that it was time for the question to be asked, should our two organisations actually consider becoming one representational body for the Body of Christ our City? – but in a ‘melding’, not simply one ceasing or being ‘taken over’.

We sensed The Lord talking about a possible ‘working title’ for what was ahead, ‘Love Chelmsford’?

Whilst not originally his intention, and indeed he had previously decided not to, one morning, two weeks before the CTiC AGM, David Gilbey awoke and all day felt that The Lord was telling him to stand for CTiC Chair. This was to be on the basis that there would be exploration of how the two organisations could proceed together. Discussions with the existing CTiC Committee took place and at the AGM, on Sunday 20th June, David was indeed elected as Chair.

Read the message from David, as Chair, on the front page of the CTiC website, http://chelmsfordchurches.net

The Chelmsford 24-7 Steering Group has just met and know that there is no rush! Chelmsford 24-7 Prayer will continue for the present much as before, with monthly Prayer Spaces and Walks  – click here for details.

This will be a careful process, which will of course fully take into account the views of the CTiC committee and involve consultations with many others involved in the Christian life of our City. We will proceed relationally, building friendships and not least listening attentively for The Lord’s direction. We have no intention of running off ahead!

Praying in the new season – will you join us?

Prayer must be at the heart and foundation of everything! We particularly ask each who are associated with Chelmsford 24-7 to pray for wisdom. In particular, our Prayer Support Team will be involved in praying this new season in.

We would welcome new members of the Prayer Support Team, which normally meets on the fourth Thursday evening each month in Chelmsford. Contact us – click here –  and Sue Gibson, who heads up the Team, will be able to discuss the details.

Thank you all for your continuing support. The words of a Chris Tomlin song come to mind, ‘For greater things have yet to come. And greater things are still to be done in this city.’ Listen on You Tube  -click here
