We were excited to be able to support in prayer two major events took place in our High Street on Good Friday, 25 March, the annual Churches Together in Chelmsford, Procession of Witness our very first outdoor City Passion Play.
It was a wonderful day – wall to wall sunshine and a real sense of unity and atmosphere of God’s presence. David Gilbey, Chelmsford 24-7 leader made a prayer and declaration over the City during the Procession of Witness service. You can view a copy here.
During the week leading up to Good Friday, there were four special Prayer Spaces, which had an emphasis on praying for these events and for the impact that Easter generally will have upon the people of our City. About 60 people joined us to pray during the course of these.
It is our desire to see the name of Jesus raised high over Chelmsford and that peoples lives will be radically impacted for His Gospel.
On the Tuesday evening, we had a Prayer Space at St. John’s Church, Moulsham Street, which incorporated a Holy Week Meditation, from 8-9pm, led by Churches Together in Chelmsford Chair, Revd. Canon Carol Smith. This happened in a side chapel alongside the Prayer Space.
